The clinic was founded back in 1991, with direct ties with the events leading up to regaining the national independence. Neurosurgeon Doc. Juris Puriņš was the owner and first head of the clinic.

The clinic was first established as a healthcare facility for neurosurgery, neurology, orthopedics and plastic surgery patients.

The clinic found its inspiration in the principles of operation of private clinics working back in 1920-40s. The founders carefully studied private surgical facilities in Germany, Switzerland, and USA. From 1991 to 1993, the clinic shared premises with the 16th Neurosurgery Unit of Riga 7th Clinical Hospital “Gaiļezers”.

In 1993-1994, the clinic was established in Jurmala, Jaundubulti as an individual healthcare department with its own surgical block, intensive care unit, postoperative rooms, dressing and diagnostic wards.

From 1994 to 2018, the clinic was established and located in Riga, Bikur Holim Hospital with spacious premises and many state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, e.g. CT, MRI, angiography, reanimation unit, intensive care units and everything required for neurosurgery and neurology patients.

The clinic examines, treats and performs surgeries for patients with brain tumors, brain hemorrhages, brain trauma and many spine and spinal cord disorders.

Starting with 2018, the clinic works in modern premises at the Latvian Maritime Medical Centre with outstanding diagnostic tools, excellent surgical block and everything that is necessary for state-of-the-art neurosurgical services.

All these years, the team of our clinic has collaborated with Latvia-renowned and popular physicians in diagnostics and treatment.

All these years, the clinic has served as an academic platform for neurosurgery and neurology students, residents and experienced physicians from Latvia and abroad.

The clinic has invested a lot of intellectual and financial resources in establishing and operating the Centre of Experimental Surgery, University of Latvia.

All these years, employees of the clinic have been actively involved in the Latvian Association of Neurosurgeons, organizing scientific-applied meetings as well as “hands-on” courses, seminars and summer camps. Our physicians are true members of Baltic and global associations of neurosurgeons.
